In the summer of '83 my dad and I, along with another man from the motorcycle club named Herb Reiss, headed south to South Carolina. I was in love with the South and had a crush on a girl I met from there. You know it was serious because I had named this motorcycle after her, "Sabra." We went to Lake Murray, South Carolina so I could visit Sabra. I had always been a rebel at heart and this trip helped solidify that. After we found our campsite on an island in the lake, I left Dad and Herb to set up camp while I went off with Sabra and her friends. I wish I had paid more attention to a few things first though; like where the campsite was and that the park closed after 10:00 PM. I got back much later than that and found the gate to the park closed. I parked the bike and started walking. It was amazing how dark the night is that far out in the country. There wasn't a photon to be found. I could scarcely see the white line of the road right at my feet. After an hour and a lot of guessing and stumbling, I recognized the sound of my Dad and Herb snoring. I was able to hone in on it and get to the tent. I'm glad that Dad was obviously not worried.
